What Is The Row About?

In February, a massive outrage was sparked over a remark by Allahbadia in an episode of Samay Raina's show India's Got Latent, where he made an appearance as a judge alongside Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija.

What angered people was Allahbadia's question to a contestant asking "Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life, or would you join in once and stop it forever?"

FIRs, SC Hearing: The Legal Trouble

Following the outrage, several FIRs were lodged against him. However, taking cognisance of the development, the Supreme Court granted him interim protection from arrest but termed his remarks "vulgar" and said he had a "dirty mind" that shamed society.

The apex court stated, "We don't want any regulatory regime that leads to censorship, but at the same time, there must be some control over such content."

However, the top court also allowed Allahbadia to continue airing his YouTube show, The Ranveer Show, under the compulsion that it must adhere to norms of "morality and decency."
